I was told by a ‘real artist’ that all real artists must have an ‘artist statement’. I consider myself to be a ‘real artist’ so I guess I need one. Here goes (note to reader - I hate writing about myself in the 3rd person - it’s pretentious! And… I’m not sure what it actually tells you about me that viewing my art has not already revealed).

Artist Statement

Jayne Walker is a self-taught contemporary mixed media artist creating vibrant art reflecting her curiosity and bold approach to life. With a palette bursting with joyful colour, she brings organic shapes to her work, inspired by the natural beauty of Australian land and seascapes that captivate her and spark her creativity.

For Jayne, art isn't just a passion—it's a lifeline that brings balance and joy to her world.

Her journey as an artist reflects the power of self-discovery, the importance of curiosity and the possibilities of imagination. Through her work, Jayne invites viewers to embrace the beauty in nature, through colourful whimsy, texture and organic expression. She is mostly drawn to abstract art as it provides the opportunity to create without limits, explore texture, bring spontaneity and curiosity to her work and go where the painting takes her.

“Creating art brings me great joy, peace, mindfulness, clarity and balance. In short, art is my happy place. I hope my art brings you joy and happiness too.”
